13 days to go

vote.jpgAs of this morning, there are only 13 days until the United State's general election on November 4th. No matter what your party preference or level of fatigue with this season's campaign cycle, we still enjoy a great privilege of having the opportunity and right to vote for our local, state, and national leaders/representatives. I am especially excited this year because both of my oldest two sons will have the opportunity to vote in their first presidential election. Voting seems to be one of the rites of passage into adulthood. Zack has already voted in a general election before in 2006 via absentee ballot while attending college out of state. Ben has already voted via absentee ballot this year for the same reason. This will be Zack's first opportunity to attend the polling location for our area and cast his vote on election day. I have strong opinions about this year's choices and issues, but my strongest opinion is that the privilege of participating in voting, an opportunity not enjoyed by all people around the world, is one of the greatest citizenship responsibilities we have so let's do it on November 4th!

Here is a good related link regarding teaching your children about the election process. Kudos to Parent Hacks blog:
