Everything Old is New Again...

Quawkle.com is currently in a transition between the current site and a makeover involving either a switch to Wordpress using the Genesis or Thesis, or a complete move to Squarespace.

I set up a trial for Squarespace at http://quawkle.squarespace.com/ and after "putzing" with it for a few hours, I have to say I really like it! The big bonus to me as an Apple/Mac/iPhone/iPad user is the wonderful iPhone app that Squarespace has developed. Not only does it work well with creating and editing posts, it also has superb comment moderation tools. My initial concern with Squarespace was the cost - probably typical of many bloggers. I have since realized that the price Squarespace charges includes many things both tangible and intangible. A big part of the cost is the hosting and from what I have heard, Squarespace sites scale tremendously well. That is not an immediate concern for me since Quawkle.com has for the last two years since its inception, been a relatively quiet site visited mostly by my family, friends, and a modest amount of other visitors. I hope all that will change in the next 6 months to a year with an increase in scope and focus and effort on my part.

Rather than continue with some of the many other observations I have made so far with Squarespace, I will save some of those thoughts for another post or two. I also want to visit and try out the Wordpress frameworks and offer an opinion regarding those tools.

I am really liking the layout with Squarespace. What are the pros and cons of switching over from Wordpress?
